Our Programs build motivation and confidence. How do we do that?

Motivation

This is how… because we know that

  1. Kids WANT to learn. They want to figure stuff out. They want to know—they don’t want to be the only one who doesn’t get it.
  2. They watch, copy and integrate all by themselves — they learn because they want to. This is motivation. Don’t believe it? Ask yourself this: How did your child learn to play that video game? He learned it because he wanted to. Simple.
  3. What happens to that motivation? Where does it go?
  4. It disappears when we are told that we have to learn something that doesn’t seem important to us (Algebra? I don’t waaaaaant to! What am I going to need that for?)
  5. We make the connection between school subjects and real life crystal clear. (Try tiling a backsplash without some algebra)
  6. We make learning matter—and that’s the most important part of motivation (see step 2: They learn because they want to) Full Circle.

Confidence

You say: and what about confidence? How do your programs build that?

Because we…

  1. Create a safe environment for children to make mistakes and learn from them
  2. Never stop the encouragement!
  3. Celebrate successes (and failures too—its part of trying) and we watch as each child’s confidence grows.
  4. Confidence leads to success, not just in school but everywhere! (on the soccer field, at dance class, at volleyball tryouts, on their resume, at home, talking to friends, in the way they walk!)
